What I’ve been doing lately while neglecting this blog…

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this blog, so I thought I’d let you guys know what I’ve been up to!

I spent a month in Oregon and got to go bungee jumping. It was awesome.

I won the Alabama Teen Author Award for INSIGNIA and attended a wonderful conference with Alabama librarians. Here I met another winner, Lily Ledbetter!

I attended the Waupaca Book Festival in Wisconsin and had a great time meeting local teenagers, librarians, teachers, parents, Derek Anderson, and…

I also met Mike Mullin, author of Ashfall! Lara, in the picture with us, is the talented artist who created the banner behind us. If you haven’t seen Mike’s presentations, you need to! He is a force of nature (coincidentally, he also talks about the Yellowstone supervolcano, another force of nature…)

I participated in the national teen lock-in. Here is my video from the event! (Warning: lots of ‘ums’ ahead.)

I moderated a panel at Mrs. Dalloway’s with Susan Adrian, Whitney Miller, and Stacey Lee

And last but certainly not least, I signed with a new agent, Holly Root of Waxman Leavell! Fingers crossed– I hope to have news for you sometime this year about a new upcoming book. All I’ll say is that it’s sci-fi, it’s in the future, and it was a LOT of fun to write. Hopefully it will be just as fun to read!

Take care!

  1. As long as you can release yourself from the cable when you need to and don't wind up ground into a bloody paste around some subsurface pulleys or whatnot.I've never seen the cable system, so I don't know how possible it might be to &qc&q;hituhotuot;, but it sounds fun. Report back when you're done joking and ready to really try it!!!
